What is Done During Hair Transplants?
People who are balding would benefit a lot through the surgical procedure of hair transplantation. Hair transplant today is something that a lot of people undergo and it a popular procedure The problem of balding with men and women is a very real problem and it is a distressing situation for them. If they want to restore their scalp back to their natural and growing state, then the best option is to undergo this surgical procedure.
What is being done in hair transplantation is to transfer hair from other parts of the body to the parts of the head where it is balding. If there is hair around the back and sides of the scalp, then these hairs are used for the transplant. This part of the head is called a donor dominant hair and this is usually found in male when they start to bald. When this type of hair, the donor dominant hair, is transplanted to a balding part of the head, there is a very large chance that the hair will grow. The follicular unit hair treatment is the most successful transplantation method. This procedure is a lot better than transitional hair transplant methods. IN this method, there are smaller incisions and more precise placement of the hair follicles so the hair grows thicker and closer to together compared to the results of traditional methods. In this method tissue is prepared and trimmed using high powered microscopes. More grafts per square inch are placed by surgeons using this equipment. A highly trained and skilled restoration surgeon carefully harvests the hair follicles.
This is an outpatient procedure where the patient is given local anesthesia before surgery. Donor dominant patches on the body are used to harvest follicles and hair grow and these are divided into individual grafts. These grafts are then placed underneath the scalp where there is baldness and here the new hair will grow in time. The length of time in inserting grafts can take from six to eight hours, and it has to be done on more than one session until all the bald area is covered. The extent of your baldness and hair type will determine the amount of grafts needed.
There is no immediate results for hair transplant. There is one method of hair transplantation that has become popular today which is called follicular unit hair transplant. When this happens the procedure did not fail but this is a normal occurrence. Even though the new hairs will fall because of relocation trauma, in two or three month, new hair will grow from the follicles that were relocated. You will experience normal hair growth and thickening in the next six months.
